Here is a closer up so you can see the fabric and detail.
And here is a closer up of the outer border.
I was so excited and inspired about quilting, so as soon as I finished this quilt top (and not able to go on and finish it completely) I looked for another quilt to make. I haven't been quilting long enough (or just don't have that kind of money) to have a large stash of fabric on hand. After looking long enough between quilt patterns and my fabric, I found just the quilt to make. I got a big start on it Monday night and yesterday.
Today I get to have a day to myself and go to the fabric store - Fabric Depot. I haven't been there in about 8 months, so I'm VERY excited!!! I'm hoping to find backing for the above quilt and fabric for borders, binding and backing for the quilt I'm now working on. If I have enough time, I'll be on the lookout for some cute little boy fabric to make a baby quilt.
After Fabric Depot I'm meeting Dad and Mom for lunch and going to look for a sewing machine for Mom to buy. Then I'm getting my Baby Lock serger repaired and getting some lessons on it. It should be a super fun day!!!
Time is flying . . . Daddy's supposed to be home within 25 minutes so I can leave . . . and I'm still in my PJ's!! Better get a move on:) Hope you all have a grand day.
Love that quilt top, it is unusual for a color palette but it turned out well:) Hope you had a great time at Fabric Depot, every time I go there I get so overwhelmed I buy nothing and then I had the long drive for that!
ReplyDeleteLooking for baby boy fabric.. trying to tell us something? ;) I've been wanting to go to Fabric Depot just to look (or maybe tell Mom what she needs.. lol). I should learn how to sew someday! Hope you had fun!
ReplyDeleteFabric Depot was great . . . just not enough time. I found exactly what I needed for my 2 quilts. I hadn't fully decided what colors and pattern I wanted to make my baby quilt out of so I didn't end up getting anything for that. Kaia, just telling that my girl quilt has been made for almost 3 years already and sitting in a Rubbermaid container waiting to be able to use it:) You should learn to sew - it's great fun!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a big stash of fabric either, but I did have my Mama send me a suitcase full of fabric back with Calvin..lovely stuff! I think I'd like to learn to quilt, but I'd need someone to show me how!
ReplyDeleteI have tons of fabric but none of it goes together for a quilt I don't think. I guess I could just make a crazy one out of all my bits and pieces-then go buy more, right?
ReplyDeleteChristine - do you know of anyone out there who does it? Nadine - I should get you directions for a mile-a-minute quilt from Marti. Your kids would love to do it!!!
ReplyDeleteElva, once again you built a winner! When the detailed is shown, you amazed me..AGAIN! I love it! Something I could only dream of doing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Clara! You really should give it a try - it's just straight line stitching:)
