Real Snow!!!

When we left to church Sunday morning there was a blue sky at home.  After lunch at church it started to snow.  By the time we got home we had about 2 inches of snow.  The kids all headed out to play.

Here is Hunter in his boy/girl get-up:)

Our front yard.

Christopher and Clint built a snow couch.

I thought this one looked pretty neat with the trees in the background and the snow falling.

Aimee thought we should have something good and fun to eat, so she went to work making magic cookie bars, and I made cheesy bacon bites.  We decided to be a little healthy and added some apples to go with them:)

Yesterday it snowed pretty much all day.  We ended up with about 6 inches of snow.  The kids had lots of fun sledding.
Last night I made snow ice cream for bed snack.

It froze hard last night and this morning I was awakened by the sound of kids whizzing by on sleds in the backyard, on the crunchy, frozen snow.  School was cancelled and they didn't take advantage of being able to sleep in!!!

I thought the moon looked so pretty above the trees this morning.

Tara and Christopher were the early birds out sledding.

Clint, Tara, Aimee, Reid and Christopher went sledding up a logging road a ways away.  Here they are ready to head out.

Clayton taking a rest from sledding on the snow couch.

Forrest was very upset that he couldn't go sledding with the big kids.  He had big tears rolling down his cheeks, but quickly dropped his head when he saw me coming with the camera.

Another picture of our backyard, with all the snow covered trees leaning over the trail.

I just looked outside as I was ending my post and saw how bright and pretty it was, so I had to run out for another picture.  It's a beautiful, freezing day today!

Snowflakes falling all over town
Slipping, sliding, everybody rushing around
There's an icy chill in the air
Telling us that winter's really here!

At least, it really feels like it:)

Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving!

SNOW!!!

So our first snow of the year was on Wednesday night.  We woke up to the snow melting and got home from school and it was gone.  However, I heard that Forrest got to play in the snow even though it wasn't very much.  We were pretty excited!

This is our front yard

And this is the cars

So now for today.  Dad and Clayton went up to the mountains and rolled 3 big snowballs.  They brought them home and then Clayton and I made a snowman.  He decided since he had helped roll the snowballs that he should get a picture with it by himself.  He also decided it was snowing, hence the snow on the hat.  He decided he wanted to use his hat (he just took it off his head).  The last thing we decided was since the rocks wouldn't stay in for the mouth it would have a toothy grin!  So who else got snow yet?

Delicious Food + Recipes!

We'll start out with a couple of types of wraps.

The first kind is the Ranch Chicken Wraps. They're soooo delicious!

Ranch Chicken Wraps

Ingredients:
1 1/4 pound skinless boneless chicken breasts (thawed, but uncooked)
1/4 cup Taco Seasoning Mix
Pam vegetable cooking spray
about 1/3 cup ranch
6 Flour tortillas
lettuce, sliced (recipe I used called for 3 cups but I just used however much looked good)
diced tomatoes (again, recipe called for 3 cups, and I used what looked good)
Ranch to drizzle on top

Directions:
Slice the chicken into 1/4" shreds. Place in a mixing bowl; toss with taco seasoning mix.

Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. When hot, spray with Pam. Add chicken and cook through. Add about half the sauce and let cook to heat through.

To assemble, divide chicken, lettuce, and tomatoes among the tortillas. Drizzle with desired amount of ranch and roll up.

Note: These tend to be very messy, but also very delicious:)

Now, the second type of wrap is the BLT Wrap. Yumminess:)

Sorry my pic is the wrong way - turned it but now can't get it to load on again:(

BLT Wrap Recipe

On a flour tortilla, place 1/4 cup shredded lettuce, sprinkle tomatoes and cut up bacon on top; pour 2 tablespoons ranch over this, top with cheese and roll up like a burrito.

Note: I cut up our bacon and cooked it and then divided it among the amount of tortillas we were using; I didn't measure it like the directions said. Also, for the lettuce and ranch, I just used however much looked good.

Now for a delicious dessert, I bring to you the Caramel Apple Cake!

My picture of this won't load on and it wasn't very good anyway, soo . . . if you want to see the picture, and since the recipe is pretty long, I don't want to put it all on here, then go here to see the recipe and the pic.

Note: I use more caramels and apples than the recipe calls for.
This cake is sooo delicious and I think I should go make some right now:)

God's Peace and Love,
Aimee

Black Color Challenge #2

This week Aimee and I did a craft with black.  Mine is a little bag that can be used for a little cosmetic bag or to store something in a bigger bag . . . or whatever you can dream up to use it for:)

Aimee made a fabric notebook cover.  She will be selling these at our bazaar in Amboy on December 4th.

Hope you all have a great weekend.  I need to get back to my sewing:)

Love, Elva
